Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (also known as nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy) is an extremely rare disease. The disease was first recognized and named in the medical literature in 2000 by Dr. Sean Cowper. Since then, medical professionals have concluded that the disease is a systemic disease and thus, changed the name from nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. The disease is thought to affect only those individuals with impaired renal or hepatic function.
To date only 215 cases have been reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, however, many believe this number is far below the actual number of individuals who suffer from this disease. (Register your case at NSFSupportGroup.com's NSF Case Registry by clicking here).
This site is founded by Jason E. Ochs who has met, spoken to, and listened to dozens of NSF patients and their family members across the country. There are less than a mere handful of physicians, and likely no other lawyer in the country, who has seen, touched and listened to more NSF/NFD individuals than Jason.
This website is dedicated to only NSF/NFD patients and their loved ones. Our private forum exists so patients and their loved ones can be free to meet, greet and share their thoughts, courage and emotions with others affected by NSF. The forum will not be open to outsiders, however, from time to time physicians who can offer inspiration, motivation and assistance will be given access to this site.
As a registered member you will have exclusive access to several private discussion groups. Among them include a private discussion group for only NSF patients, a private discussion group for NSF spouses and close-family relatives, a General Legal forum where updates regarding the national litigation picture will be posted (only general updates, no case specific updates), and a General Medical forum where, from time to time, physicians will be invited to participate.
Our goal at NSFSupportGroup.com is to become the world's leader for NSF Support. With your help, we can join together to raise awareness in hopes for a better tomorrow.
